A guide you can print and keep by the computer
How to use Twicewell
For the person who checks in, and for the family member or friend who helps. Every step is on its own line. Take your time: nothing on Twicewell has a time limit.
1 Make the account (a helper can do this)
- Go to solar-winds.us and press Create free account.
- Type an email address you can read, and a password of at least 10 letters or numbers.
- Keep the password somewhere safe at home, such as an address book in a drawer. Do not write it on this sheet if the sheet stays next to the computer: anyone who finds both could read the health record.
- Twicewell shows 10 recovery codes one time only. Print them or write them down and keep them with the password, not on this sheet. They are the way back in if the password is lost.
2 Make the words bigger
At the top of every page there is Text size with three buttons: Normal, Larger and Largest. Press the one that is easiest to read. Twicewell remembers it on this computer, tablet or phone.
You can also make everything bigger with the browser: hold Ctrl and press + (on a Mac, Command and +).
3 The check-in, morning and evening
- Press the green Check in button.
- One question is on the screen at a time. At the top it says which step you are on, for example Step 3 of 11 (the number of steps changes a little from day to day).
- Press your answer, or type it. For blood pressure, weight and sleep you can press the big − and + buttons instead of typing.
- Press Next to go on. Press Back to change an answer. Nothing moves on by itself.
- If a question does not suit you today, press Skip this question.
- Tired, or the phone rang? Press I'll finish later. Your answers are kept. Press Check in again later the same morning (before 2 pm) or evening (before 3 am) to carry on where you stopped.
- On the last step press Save my check-in. You will see a thank-you page. There are no right or wrong answers, and no scores.
The morning check-in is open from 3 am to 2 pm. The evening one from 2 pm until 3 am.
4 Warning signs
Each check-in asks about warning signs. If one is ticked, a red box appears at once on the same screen saying who to call.
Call 911 for anything sudden or happening now: sudden confusion, trouble speaking, very hard to wake, a seizure, sudden weakness on one side, sudden trouble seeing, a sudden severe headache, or chest pain.
Call the care team right away for a fever of 100.4 F (38 C) or higher, new or worse confusion, trouble writing, shaking, being sleepier than usual, a headache, or a fall. If you cannot reach them, call 911.
Twicewell does not call anyone and nobody watches the answers. Full list and sources: Warning signs.
5 The other pages
The buttons at the top of every page always say where they go:
- Today
- Which check-ins are done today, and the week so far.
- My charts
- Lines for mood, pain, sleep, blood pressure and more. A shaded band shows the person's own usual range.
- Summary
- The last 7 or 14 days on one page, to print or save as a PDF for an appointment.
- Medicines
- The person's own medicines and times. Each check-in asks if they were taken.
- Movement
- Exercises the person's own physical therapist gave them, and how they went.
- Photos
- Up to 6 photos a day, for example of rooms at home. Kept private and encrypted.
- Care team
- Let a family member, caregiver or physical therapist see the charts and summaries (they cannot change anything). Remove them any time.
- Settings
- Name, time zone, password, two-step sign-in, voice answers, email reports, download or delete everything.
6 For helpers
- Ask the person to invite you in Care team. You then see their charts and summaries with your own sign-in, read only.
- Do the first few check-ins together. After about a week Twicewell knows the person's usual, and marks days that are higher or lower than usual.
- Before a doctor's visit, open Summary and press Print or save as PDF. To use MyChart, attach that PDF to a message yourself. Twicewell does not connect to MyChart.
- For privacy, Twicewell signs out after a day without use. Keep the password and recovery codes somewhere safe, away from this sheet.
